May 6th. 120 minutes. Gave him new material to work with. Saw the heart attack grill video and the men and women audio from Seinfeld. Found it amusing. An intro to the voabulary being used is always a plus. For next class he's doing the agassi interview, room service and NY street food exercises.
May 12th. 120 minutes. saw the audio about buffets and quite some time with the two audios about going to a concert. Next class: NY street food and super size me documentary.
May 17th. 120 minutes. Listen to the NY street food combined with the video from Katz deli and chit chat about food in NY. Saw a chapter from the supersize me documentary.
Tue May 31. 120 mins. Chit chat about the champions league final for a few minutes, so for that reason we saw the nike write the future short film and asked him to explained to me what.happened. we also listened the singapore airlines audio, so we talked about yield mgmt. This is an excellent extra activity.
Wed june 1st. 120 minutes. He watched the video about money and kids from L21 so we talked about it. We also talked about retirement, so I need to create this retirement reading document an send it to him. Finished the singapore airlines exercise.
Tue June 7th. 120 minutes. Class about the long tail. I didn't work it out so well, because he needed to read it first. Plus, I forgot the headphones which turned out to be a nuisance. We did the Carlin sketch about losing things anyhow, which made things a little better.
Wed June 8th. 120 minutes. Long tail again and talked about how technology has changed the insurance industry. Saw Carlin's segment about losing things once more.
June 21st. 120 minutes. Went over the steps a the gas station as a recap. Also, the exercise about car trouble 1 from L22 and a few more minutes looking the drowsy driver pdf.
June 23rd. 120 minutes. The listening exercise about going to the movies from ESL podcast. He said he does the exercise with his wife sometimes. Talked about movie genres and did the harry and sally activity. He talked about trips, especially about cruises.
Wed. June 29th. 120 min. Worked on the video NBC memory matters and the audio terms about roads on the USA and the UK. We talked about them and he did really good. We might need to work a little on his pronuntiation and he asked me if we can work on connectors and prepositions. Nice class.
Wed. June 6th. 120 min. We worked on connectors and prepositiions, we worked on some exercises on line. He wanted to have them more clear since he was going to be sent to a conference the next day and probably he will have to make some presentations at work during the week. He said he couldnt take the class on thursday because of the conference and I will send him the links of the information we found on the internet about what we saw. Lots of information but he did good and I learnt a lot, nice class.
July 28th. 120 minutes. Spent 40 minutes with the debt ceiling questions. Did the Naomi video from the blog and struggled with it. The exercise needs a lot of context to make it easier to understand. Still a good listening task.
Aug 2nd. 120 minutes. The "ing as a noun" exercise from L8. We digressed all the time, but in a sense it turns out to be a good thing. He talked about his trip to south America because we were talking about things we can't stand.
Aug 4th. 120 minutes. All the time with the retirement reading exercise, because we talked about how difficult it is getting for people to save for retirement.
Aug 23rd. Luis. 120 mins. The I-hate-my-cellphone-film festival. This exercise is a bit difficult, but he managed to talk about it real well. Also another video talking about a blackberry curve from L16. Both videos dealing with topixs related to technology. Finally the video about jogging and strollers which deals with things you need when you do a special activity aloutdoors. Promised to gathr vocabulary related to gear necessary when you go mountain biking.
Aug 30th. 120 mins. Warm up with prepositions, the audios about young adults with cramped quarters in NY. A little practice with the audio exercise about things to do in the office (routine). The cramped quarters exercise is fine, except for the first audio that's too difficult to understand.
Aug 31st. 120 mins. Grace. Her previous class was about prepositions. The one on aug 17th was about Agassi. This one using some material to explain adverbs.
sept 6th. 120 mins. The favorite word exercise from L24, which turned out to be a great thing because he came up with great and interesting answers. Also the exercise about sweden. Not as interesting for him, but we did fairly well.
Sept 20th. 120 mins. Grace. helped him out with a report he needed to send, the terms is what he settrugles with, he was happy with the support I gave him on this.
sept 27th. 120 mins. we listened to Jane Goodall interview and he really liked it, he made very interested comments about it and also learned few words from the scriipts we read from lesson number 24.
Oct 5th. 120 mins. Did the reading exercise from L24 about this guy from NY's weekend routine. I like it because it shows how people talk. While reading, we took the time to talk about our routine on weekends. We made a very quick review of simple present and past routine using "used to".
No more classes. He's planning to take classes at work and needs time in the afternoons to make exercise and stuff. 96 hours (equivalent to 64 sessions). exercises from L19-24, so we could've worked on L25-28 and L15-18. That means we could've spent less time with some of the exercises (we spent too much time with some of them). Good improvement in listening comprehension, communication skills and vocabulary. He continued his struggle with pronounciation and grammar a bit.
