Tue Aug 31st. Class resumed. L15 Pr5 with pitures and car rental forms. The car rental forms is new material for this activity. Also follow the conversation from L15. Next class: L16 intro and Pr1 and 2.
Tue Sep 7th. Spend more time with the animals video, asked questions about it, had practice with "could you do me a favor..." and with "make a run". We also did the Ernst's exercise to practice giving directions. Next class can go on with directions on Page 22 and wilson pickets audio.
Fri Sep 3. 90 minutes. First class. Lesson 16 True and False statements, Practice 1, Practice 2 and the ellen and animsls video. Homework questions about context I will send her the video today. We need to practice more on her speaking.
Tue Sept 14th. 90 minutes. Class using maps available for the exercise on page 20. Did the asking for directions audio on page 22. She had some trouble with giving directions, but she tries hard. Next class: luggage description and on line service audio from page 28.
Tue Sept 21st. 90 minutes. "how to psy an online service" exercise. She struggled a bit to tell me what happened although she quite understood. We also made a car rental reservation online (taken from the exercise at the blog from L16).
Tue Oct 5th. 90 minutes. Did the trailer about the movie "how to train your dragon". Difficult for her, but she managed to explain what happened. Also spent time doing the reading exercise about music (page 25).
Thu Oct 7th. 90 minutes. Finished the reading exercise (page 25) so we talked about percentages (5 out of 10 an d so forth). Listened to the pop&jazz music podcast and talked about music as well.
Tue Oct 21st. 90 minutes. Worked on Extra Activity no. 3 Moving and Extra activity no. 4 Travel she found them a little hard, she is improving her conversational skills but still have work to do, she struggles with the understanding of my questions.
Tue Oct 26th. 90 minutes. Worked on Lesson 16 summary, True or False statements, Practice one and two talked about the allergy and wash hands videos she is improving her conversational skills but struggles a lot with vocabulary so it takes her a lot of time to figure out what she wants to say. Keeps struggling with the meaning of my questions.
Thur Oct 28th. 90 minutes. Worked on the Additional extra activity no. 1 on page 35. She found it a little hard but she enjoyed it, also worked on the Far Beyond activity about influenza she didnt find it too complicated but struggled a little with vocabulary and the understanding of the reading but after reading it twice got on track. She is improving a little her pronunciation and her speaking but still need to practice much more. She understood much more my questions today.
Thur Nov 4th. 90 minutes. Practice 3 and Practice 4 covered also the additional activity on page 37. We practice her pronunciation and conversation talking about what she did during the long weekend. She did really good she is gaining more confidence so she is imoproving a lot.
Fri Nov 5th. 90 minutes. Worked on the responses on oage 37 and answered page 41, I tried to find the audio describing people but couldnt find it. We practice conversation again talking about how she practices english at home with her son and we simulate a business phone call using the dialogues we have seen so far. She keeps improving, still have work to do with her vocabulary.
Wed. Nov 10th. 90 minutes. Watched the Outlet shopping secrets video and talked about it also checked its vocabulary. She is getting better in her conversational skills and she talked about some of her outlet shopping secrets and places.
Tue. Nov 16th. Talked about what she did during her long weekend and answered the questions about context of the Outlet video, she found them a little hard I think because in the video they talk a little fast for her level. She keeps imrpoving in her conversation but still have work to do, she struggles with the correct use of time in verbs.
April 8th. 90 minutes. Went through Grammar page 43, started Lesson 18 Conversation, Practices 1 and 2 covered also the Far beyond activity was covered she struggled a little with it but do it ok, we still need to work a lot on her confidence and the correct use of time in verbs. Class was good.
Apr 12th. 90 minutes. Practice 3 and 4 covered, also page 57 and 58 we watch the video robots will substitute men and talk about it. Her confidence is improving but still have work to do on her conversational skills. Nice class.
Apr 18th. 90 minutes. Since we need to practice her pronunciation and the correct use of time in verbs worked on the Im all ears activity 3 and Listened the Im all ears extra activity number three asked her for homework to write me one situation for which she has to be polie on the phoibe related to her work. Need to check with you about the other acivities left some of them I feel are too hard on her and she also asked me to have more activities related to her job and business vocabulary. Class was good her pronuncition is improving.
May 3th. 90 mins. Checked her homework she did really good, worked on the im all ears activity on page 82 differences between Canada and EUA she struggled with it a little more of what I was expecting we need to start working on her conversational skills again I showed her the video Canadian Please on Youtube she struggled with it too. Class was good but I feel like we are starting again eventhough she tells me she feels she is speaking more than before.
May 6th. 90 minutes. Finished Lesson 18 summary started Lesson 19 she struggled again with the understanding of the conversation but she did good at the end. Practice 1 and 2 covered asked her for homework to read the script of the extra activity on page 55 so we could work this time together on the audio since she is struggling. Class was good but a little low she is really losing practice.
May the 2nd. She said she forgot we had to met that day so cancelled 20 minutes before the class. It was the day we were also going to meet for exchanging her new material.
Thur. May 18th. 90 min. Started the class talking about mothers day and the holidays she did much better. Worked on im all ears extra activity no.1 on page 3 she didnt struggled too much also worked on the far beyond activity on page 7. Asked her for homework to listen the im all ears etra activity no.2. She did much better this time in speaking and comprehension hopefully she will keep on track. Nice class.
Wed. May 25th. 90 min. Worked on Practice 4 and the other options activity, we relate it to her work situations and finished the class with the im all ears extra activity on page 10. We also checked her homework which she did good at and agreed on working more on sentences structuring on the different times. Class was good.
Mon. May 30th. 90 min. Opened the class with the video about snacking at the meat room and talked a little about it and her weekend. We also worked on the Put in writing activities on page 11 and asked her for homework the Im all ears activity no1. We worked on how to make sentences and questions in present with the auxiliary DO/DOES and its affirmative and negative responses. Class was nice.
Wed, June 1st. 90 min. Checked her homework and work on its audio, she did really good, we also listen to the Phonetics audio on page 12 and the activity on page 13 she struggled a little with it because of the questions she still dont get them at first but did good at the end. We finished the class with the audio on page 8 and agreed to finish the whole activity next class. Ask her for homework to listen the audio on page 13. Nice class.
Mon. June 6th. 90 min. Finished the acivity on page 8 she struggled a little it took us quite a bit to end it, also checked her homework at which she did better and answered the exercises on pages 15 and 14. Class was nice.
Wed. June 8th. 90 min. Worked on the Lesson 19 summary and the Phonetics aw. Also worked on how to use the the present and past progressive in sentences and questions, finished the class with the song Hey soul sister by Train. She struggled a little with it. I dont feel she is improving in her listening. Nice class.
Mon. June 13th. 90 min. Started Lesson 20 worked on the true or false statements she did really good, Practice 1 and Practice 2 I asked her to give me different examples with the structures that were related to her job. Also worked on a review on how to make questions with what where when who whose and how in present and past progressive. Class was nice.
Thur. June 16th. 90 min. Worked on practice 3 and practice 4. Talked about the videos How to make Sangria and Healthy Snacks. She is improving a little in the use of the correct time of verbs but still doesnt understand my questions very much. Nice class.
Mon. June 20th. 90 min. Worked on the put on writting and cultureme activity on page 23 I asked her to write me down some examples capitalizing words, also we talked about other different words on USA and UK and their different accent. We also worked on the im all ears activity on page 22 as well as the other exercise. Left her for homework to write down the seoond message of the im all ears activity. Her listening is improving. Nice class.
Mon. June 27th. 90 min. Worked on the Im all ears extra activity on page 24 about sugary soft drinks at school, she did good but still have to finish the essay, also worked on the exercises on page 25 but need to finish the last 5 quick questions, she is improving in the understanding and answering of questions but still have work to do. Nice class.
